The last two months!

Josh brought me flowers before Thanksgiving--aren't they lovely? He's the sweetest, most thoughtful man I've ever met! More on him and our adventures later.I went to the Denver Museum of Science, which is nearby. They had a great exhibit about mummies and stingrays. This is the underside of one, swimming upside down. Here's the top side. They are really pretty. They had piranhas, too--I didn't stick my finger in!They also had examples of insects in nature which camoflauge themselves. Can you spot the moths? There are 4 or 5 in this shot. These were the mummies. They are real! I was thrilled that the museum allowed photography. This is a sarcophagus. I think that this mummy was of a wealthy person, due to the intricate design and workmanship. This was a poorer mummy. The cloth was not wrapped as thick--you can see facial features as a result. However, everyone was mummified, rich or poor.I made Thanksgiving dinner at my house, for a few "orphans." Patty, Maureen and Robin were here from work, and Josh came over, of course! The turkey was outstanding, as was everything else--and the company was the best!I spotted this decorated "weed" and thought of "It's a Charlie Brown Christmas!" What a great way to start the season!Josh & I spotted the moon rising behind the Capitol Building just before Christmas. It was a spectacular full moon!I got a chance to meet up with Cheryl (my Realtor), Missy (her daughter) and Piper (her granddaughter) just before Christmas. Cheryl was my compadre-in-crime--she found the only GREEN ipod nano left in Colorado, and bought it so that I could give it to Josh for Christmas!I made an apple-craisen-pear pie at Christmas. This is my first pie totally from scratch, and we both thought it was amazingly delicious (Thanks Jamie Oliver and Sunset Magazine)!

We had the best First Christmas! Josh bought me the most beautiful ornament to celebrate. He also totally spoiled me with seeds for the garden, a beautiful pair of hand-wrought sterling silver filigree earrings, a new Seiko watch which I LOVE, chocolate, socks (because no Christmas can be without them!), Starbucks and L'Occitane gift cards, and more. I think I spoiled him as well, with his nano, a bathrobe, and the most amazing clock made of old computer hard-drive parts, as well as figs and other munchies. We had duck for dinner, with pear-apple-craisen-apricot chutney, spinach and appetizers. Can't remember where this was--in some airport somewhere--but I thought it was a great, creative Christmas tree! How much Coke do YOU drink?OK--if you don't want that much sugar, you can always do Diet!Matt & Abbey hosted an Ugly Sweater Party at Christmas time. Aren't they the cutest couple? Matt bought his condo through Cheryl. I've recommended her to everyone I know!James and Jenny got married earlier this year. Petey was the Ring Bearer! Gene was there... :-)I thought we looked wonderful. Don't we make a great couple? I don't allow Josh to dress like this every day--only for special occasions! Here's the full outfit for maximum fashionista effect! Check out that tie! If Matt & Abbey had been giving out prizes, we would have won First Place!OK, speaking of fashionistas, here are a few from my travels....I'm not even going to comment on those nails....

Brrrr, it was cold here! What a great way to start the day!I had a Victoria overnight right after Christmas, so went into the village and found the cutest pastry shop. They also had darling chocolates! My favs, obviously!I had an LA overnight last month, and got to see Melissa, Greg and Mark. It was so good to get hugs from my bestest friends!!!!Josh & I started the New Year by seeing the King Tut exhibit at the Denver Art Museum. They did not allow photography. They also did not allow touching of the artifacts, but I couldn't resist. I touched a 3,000 year old sculpture! No alarms went off, and the security guard was looking the other way. If you get a chance to see the Tut tour, do. It was amazing. My fav pieces were Tut's chair and bed. It was sobering to think that the Boy King sat in that chair, and slept in that bed. After the exhibit, we tried on the fashions of the era. I think we make a handsome Pharaoh couple ("Pharaoh" designated both King and Queen).Of course, there was more touching...this is an exhibit in which the foxes are playing in a cafe where everything is painted red--food, utensils, tables, chairs--except the foxes. This one was friendly, so I tickled his tummy!Josh took me to see Daniel Tosh last week (Jan 15th). Gosh, he's hilarious! Tosh was funny, too! We had a wonderful dinner at the Appaloosa Grill prior to the concert. What a great date! I got into a wreck Thursday morning, on my way to see the Physical Therapist for my neck. It had been snowing and was very icy, and the SUV at the cross street couldn't stop for his stop sign. It spun me around, smashed in the quarter panel, shattered the bumper and shoved the trunk over to the side. I ended up sore through my back, and made my neck worse. Thankfully OS (the therapist) was able to work on my almost immediately, and perhaps mitigate some of the damage and injury. The accident didn't stop me & Josh from going to the Stock Show to pick up some new family members...CHICKENS! We have 3 hens, now. This Ameraucana is unnamed thus far, although we are leaning towards Cooper or Perry, because she has a very hawk-like face. She'll lay green eggs (which we will eat with ham, of course!) Look at the detail in her feathers--she's a beautiful bird! This is Drew Breeze, a Black Star Sex Link. She has black feathers that irridesce purple and green and reddish-orange feathers mixed into the ruff around her neck. She's very friendly, probably because she's named after Josh's favourite quarterback (Geaux Saints!)And Spot, who is a Wyandotte. These birds are a recovering rare species. She'll lay brown eggs, and lots of them!Glad you came back to catch up! As you can see, it's been a busy few months! Now that the holidays and Stock Show are over, I hope I'll be a bit more regular in posting blogs.
